Starcraft II & diablo III specs Empty Starcraft II & diablo III specs

Post  Stankey Thu Apr 23, 2009 11:56 am

Thanks deja for pointing it out that i should probably check what im gna need for d3 which im gna get Smile. So i looked up a bit just to make sure. But either way i cant afford 1k, never mind much more. And my board will be able to be upgraded if i need it.

blizzard wrote:For Starcraft II, we wanted to maximize compatibility with less capable systems to ensure hassle-free game play for as broad a player base as possible. Yet we also wanted to utilize the full potential of any available hardware to ensure the game's looks were competitive. This meant supporting a wide range of hardware, from ATI Radeon 9800/NVIDIA GeForce FX's to the ATI Radeon HD 4800s and NVIDIA GeForce G200s

my comp that just died had a raedon 9800 pro im pretty sure.

some random dude wrote:I expect them to be somewhere in the following range.

2.53 GHz E7200 Core 2 Duo Processor or better
2GB RAM or better
8800 GT Video Card or better
Windows Vista or XP

Anything more would be crazy for a Blizzard game IMO.

That jogged my memory, the video card that my mates trying to get me (if its under $300) is the 8800GT, im pretty sure. But the card will be something similar to that (i hope). This is also the reccomended specs, not the minimum, so thats around the comp im getting so i should be fine to play it on good specs i think.

in response to random guy above wrote:My guess at Minimum is:
2ghz P4
512mb ram
6600 GeForce

Well yeah ill be well above that. Blizzard arent going to release a game (as shown in top quote from blizzard) that is unplayable by the majority of their target audience, the majority of their gamers arent going to have the money for top of the line computers. Me being one of them.

Jay Wilson, a blizzard tech wrote:Currently we have no plans for specific DirectX 10 support. Right now are running a DirectX 9, and we run on a pretty broad range of systems, really fast. Overall, across-the-board Blizzard's goal is that all of our games support a broad range of systems. We don't jump up the system specs in any grand way. We have no intentions of being a high-end game, and certainly no intentions of being an exclusive DirectX 10 game at this time...

We don't exactly know what the system specs are yet, but we'll try to keep them pretty low. We make a lot of decisions about what we do and do not put into our graphics, in order to keep the game running fast. One of the reasons why we talk a lot about art style, and how we focus a lot on art style, stylization of art over... when we do that it allows us to have a good looking game about falling back on technology, our technology does not have to carry us when we have such great art in the game.

Starcraft 2 is going to have some reasonably high specs but yea pretty much a decent comp now should be able to play it at lowest graphics when it comes out.

I was feeling like I wouldn't need to have hot specs for SC2 just a new comp which shouldn't be too much...then I saw the battlereports...WOW THAT GAME IS HARDCORE. I have a leaning towards Diablo being a bit easier to fun but then its going t obe released later so :S

Oi we should all get diablo 2 and play Very Happy hahaha, I used to be so hardcore at that game o.O Im seriously hoping that d3 will have a really good pvp system like d2 did. If not I probably wont buy it and just steal it from one of my friends to play it for the storyline Razz

pvp is kinda majorly essential to peoples drive to play the game past clocking it, so im sure it will be there and hopefully good. Just hope they cant hack ur body and steal all ur items like in d2.
